About WiseWord

Our Philosophy

WiseWord counselors exclusively engage in nouthetic counseling. "Nouthetic" is a Greek word from the New Testament. It comes from the noun nouthesia. When used as verb this word means to "admonish, correct or instruct." Nouthetic counseling relies solely and exclusively on the Bible, which is sufficient for everything pertaining to life and godliness (II Peter 1:3, c.f. II Timothy 3:16). To put it simply, God made human beings and He gave the core principles on how to live properly in His Word. Nouthetic counseling therefore does not rely on anything other than the Word of God (the Bible). Practically speaking, this means that a WiseWord counselor will never provide their own ideas or wisdom; counsel comes only from the Scriptures. The concern is always for the counselee, who is ordained by God to progressive, lifelong change (sanctification). In this process, a person is conformed more and more to the image of Jesus Christ. Our Founder

Dr. C. H. E. Sadaphal

Founder

Yes, Dr. Sadaphal is a real medical doctor who has been seeing, treating and helping patients for the past 15 years (first in the ER and then Urgent Care). He worked on the front lines in the epicenter of the COVID pandemic in New York City. What he quickly discovered was far more than a bodily illness: he experienced first-hand the agonizing heartaches, pain, and hopelessness in people who had their entire world disrupted. He knew medicine could only help but so much. For people in soul trouble, they need the power of God. For people whose soul has no rest, they can come to Christ and find it in Him. So, this is what inspired Dr. Sadaphal to create a virtual biblical counseling service that could reach people wherever they are. He obtained his training with the American College of Biblical Counselors (ACBC) before starting WiseWord, a service dedicated to helping people who need decision help through nouthetic counseling.

Dr. Sadaphal is also the founder of What Christians Should Know, an organization designed to equip Christians to know what they believe and why. He is the author of seven books including WCSK vols. I and II, The Power of God’s Word and Why Evolution is Not True. He is also the host of multiple podcasts including TruthFinder.

The founder obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2001, a M.D. from Drexel U. College of Medicine in 2005, and a Masters of Divinity (M. Div) from New York Theological Seminary in 2017.  Currently, he is taking preparatory classes in order to apply to the doctorate program at Westminster Theological Seminary (ThM).
